The Americans wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, with Troy Terry getting his second of the tournament just over a minute into the game.

Slovak goaltender Vladimir Cybulka faced a barrage of shots from the start of the game. Midway through the period the U.S. struck against with a power play goal, as Jack Roslovic brought the puck into the Slovak zone and sent a centering pass to Matthew Tkachuk for the 2-0 lead.

The Slovaks fell behind after a miscommunication during a shift drew a too many players on the ice penalty. A U.S. rush pushed the Slovak defencemen out of position, allowing Roslovic to get his second point of the game, scoring on a wide open net on a feed from Tkachuk.

Team USA’s top line of Auston Matthews, Roslovic, and Tkachuk was humming by the end of the first period. Roslovic scored his second of the game with less than two minutes to go, with Matthews on the assist as the Americans went back to the dressing room with a commanding 4-0 lead.

Matthews got on the board himself with a pari of goals at the start of the second frame. Jeremy Bracco, Casey Fitzgerald, Luke Kunin, and Brendan Warren rounded out the scoring as the Americans cruised to a 10-0 romp.

The US is back to an even record after dropping its opener to Russia, as is Slovakia, which will try to bounce back in its third game against the Russians on Sunday.
